Bringing It In!

What a beautiful season we have had for 2023-24!

Movement Source dancers shared their talent and joy this season by Bringing it In!

The company performed an inspiring season finale on the beautiful main stage of Tempe Center for the Arts to an enthusiastic and supportive audience! We had amazing artistic collaborators joining us for this performance – violinist Megyn Neff and cowboy poet, Jon MIncks alias Jonny Hotshot. Guest Choreographer Tyler Orcutt (TX) created new work on the company, mesmerizing audiences. Thank you to all who performed, attended, and for those of you who came out to share in events all season long.

We enjoyed a community performance in collaboration with Scottsdale Artists School in March as well! Dancing outside and building new relationships with the artists at the school and the Scottsdale community was so rewarding We had such a fun time performing “West” for the Windows of the West 50th anniversary celebration! Even Mayor Ortega liked our moves!

Dancing at the Cactus Collective at Fashion Square was prickly fun as well! Scottsdale Arts keeps things moving!

We were able to share work in the Arizona Dance Festival in the fall and on the outdoor stage at the Herberger in the Spring as well as dancing in the beautiful Phoenix Art Museum this season.

Our outreach program is thriving – sharing dance at Phoenix Day School for the Deaf, Hirsh Academy and Biltmore Prep. We were also able to share dance with the residents at Morning Star Assisted Living. Our belief that dance is for all ages is active and evident. So much joy.

Our guiDANCE program allowed several young artists to connect with professional companies touring through Arizona. ASU Gammage Beyond Series continues to support our mentorship mission and we were able to experience classes and connections with Kyle Abraham A.I.M, Diane McIntyre, and  Malpaso this year. So inspiring!

We welcomed a beautiful new dancer into our family this year, Ka’Via Boswell! We sadly say goodbye (for now) to Zoe Sommers – as she moves to a new state to explore life! She will always be part of our dance family. We welcome two new board members; Amanda Coppola (North and Co) and William Herding (Camelback Wealth). Thank you to our families, friends, patrons, and all who support us. Thank you to our donors, the Arizona Commission on the Arts, Scottsdale Arts and Phoenix Office of Arts and Culture. Crucial to the work we do. We appreciate our home base at Dance Theater West. Susan Silverman is amazing.

We embrace change, new ideas and collaborations as we move into our 2024-25 season – we have exciting plans – stay tuned! XO
