Movement Source is happy to say our 2018-19 season was a success and brought much joy through dance to many! Thank you to all who came out to support us this season and all who collaborated with us! We completed a workshop with students at the Phoenix Day School for the Deaf with Nikki Turner leading inspiring and energetic youth in dance creation and performance in the Spring! Keith Johnson brought his magical and amazing African drumming to accompany the second half of the workshop! Throughout our season we were able to host and co-host many exciting dance master classes with amazing artists including; Tamara Williams, Lilliana Gomez, Liz Lerman, Ronald K. Brown company, as well as create mentorship experiences for youth, community performances and workshops.
The company performed an array of moving dance pieces for fabulous audiences at the Tempe History Museum in March with "Our Stories" and now the dancers are traveling and rejuvenating to resume working together in August. We will be creating new work with various artists including choreographer, Jessica Starr who will be coming in the fall to Arizona from Los Angeles for our 2019-2020 season. We look forward to making dance happen in various settings in our community! Our upcoming season theme revolves around the excitement of change and taking chances - we are looking forward to embarking on new territory!
We continue to enjoy and appreciate our home at Dance Theater West and honor Fran Cohen who recently passed, with continuing the passion and love of dance with every class and rehearsal held in the studio where she worked and inspired us for so many years.
Wishing you all a wonderful Summer! We look forward to seeing you next season!
